Description
The "Il Colombaio " farm is situated in the heart of the Tuscan countryside area near Abbadia Isola, in the hilly Chianti area at the feet of Monteriggioni and the Via Francigena, at the centre of the district made up of Florence - Sienna - San Gimignano - Volterra.
In a carefully restored antique farmhouse, we offer holiday apartments or Bed and Breakfast rooms.
The farmhouse is located in the middle of an area rich with vineyards and century-old olive groves where our guests find the very best for healthy, complete relaxation.
The flavours of a beautiful land
Fattoria il Colombaio is nowadays considered a symbol of the local environment that has always witnessed the development of the area, shown since 1800, when the Municipality of Monteriggioni conferred the farm an honour for its dedication to agriculture.
The estate consists of 60 hectares of land, where there are located the cellar, 10 hectars of vineyards, the olive grove and the renowned agriturismo which is open all year round.
Six bedrooms, two apartments and two bedrooms with the use of the kitchen, swimming pool, a very quiet atmosphere and a catering service based on home made agricultural products: these are the main services offered to guests, including the tasting of the most important product of the farm: Wine.
Today, under the oenological guidance of the young Mirko Niccolai and the experience of Paolo Caciornia, Colombaio has been started since the high quality wine production, entirely focused on the care and vinification of Sangiovese grape cultivated in the Monteriggioni area.
Sangiovese is conceived as the traditional vine with its endless potential capable, thanks to the new vinification technologies to express new sensations, it represent the "hero" of the tastes and flavours revolution.
This is the mission of Fattoria il Colombaio, giving life to the expression of Sangiovese grape from the classical traditional tastes to the most refined modern ones.
